Bausch and Lomb appoints new CFO

22nd March 2007

Bausch & Lomb has announced the appointment of Efrain Rivera as senior vice-president and chief financial officer of the firm. Mr Rivera will replace Stephen C McCluski in the position, who has announced that he is to retire from the role at the end of June.

Mr Rivera joined the company in 1989 and has been employed in a number of management and executive positions at the firm, including general manager of Bausch & Lomb Mexico, vice-president of finance for global vision care and president of the firm’s Canada and Latin America subsidiary.

Having been elected an officer of Bausch & Lomb in 2002, Mr Rivera was appointed to the position of corporate vice president and treasurer two years later.

Ronald L Zarrell, chairman and chief executive officer of the firm, said: “We’re very fortunate to have an executive of Efrain Rivera’s calibre to succeed Steve in the [chief financial officer] function.”

He added that Mr Rivera has been employed in positions of increasing responsibility in business analysis, commercial operations, investor relations and treasury, and in doing so has shown the necessary leadership skills, vision and experience to succeed in the role.

Last month, Bausch & Lomb announced the appointment of Catherine M Burzik to the board of directors of the company.
