Bausch and Lomb launches enVista IOL in Europe

19th September 2011

Bausch and Lomb has announced the European launch of its new intraocular lens (IOL) product enVista.

The company has been granted CE Mark approval for the glistening-free, hydrophobic acrylic IOL, which was introduced to industry professionals at the recent 2011 Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

Its unique combination of aspheric, aberration-free Advanced Optics technology provides superior contrast sensitivity and better vision quality than current IOL offerings, while it also minimises posterior capsular opacification.

Having introduced the product in EU territories, the manufacturer is now seeking additional regulatory approvals in other parts of the world.

Robert Grant, chief executive officer and president of global surgical business for Bausch and Lomb, said: "We are proud to innovate the hydrophobic lens category with an IOL that provides a high quality of vision and addresses the common issue of glistenings."

Last week, the company announced the launch of its new femtosecond laser device Victus, which has been developed alongside the soon-to-be-acquired Technolas Perfect Vision.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800732968-ADNFCR
