Bausch and Lomb launches PureVision2 HD For Astigmatism lenses

Bausch and Lomb has introduced a new contact lens offering that is aimed at providing high-quality vision correction for patients with astigmatism.

The new PureVision2 For Astigmatism with High Definition Optics incorporates a stabilisation system called Auto Align Design, which provides clear vision and high comfort levels around the clock.

It also features an optimised thickness profile, combining prism and peri ballasting for optimum stability and superior centration, while other design elements reduce spherical aberration across the cylinder and sphere meridians.

Feedback for the PureVision2 HD For Astigmatism has been positive from healthcare professionals and patients alike, according to the manufacturer, which showcased the lenses at the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Optometry this week.

Dr Ian Cox, director of the lens design group at Bausch and Lomb, said: "Our unique design has been shown to provide excellent stability to ensure crisp, clear vision."

This comes after the firm released its new CE Mark-approved intraocular lens product enVista in Europe last month.
