Baxter celebrates 75 years of business

Baxter International is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the company’s founding.

To commemorate the occasion, the company has announced a new programme of “employee volunteerism”, with a commitment to 156,000 hours of service and volunteering across Baxter’s 47,000 employees.

Staff will be able to receive paid time off as volunteers, either as individuals or in teams, to help to address a community issue approved by their Baxter facility, of which there 18 in the UK – including area for manufacturing, sales and marketing, distribution, pharmacy compounding and renal therapy units.

Robert L Parkinson Jr, Baxter’s chairman and chief executive officer, remarked: “Since 1931, Baxter has been advancing the boundaries of healthcare through the innovative application of science and technology.”

“Today, as we celebrate Baxter’s 75th anniversary, our 47,000 employees continue to be connected by one purpose: saving and sustaining the lives of patients worldwide,” he stated.

A video showcasing Baxter’s history is now available at its website. Additionally, representatives from the company will ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on October 20th.

Baxter’s UK operations opened in 1960, with an annual turnover of ?208,000. The company opened its Thetford manufacturing facility in 1965.
