Baxter Healthcare volunteers to celebrate anniversary
Global medical services company Baxter Healthcare has this month celebrated its 75th anniversary and announced a new global service volunteering project to coincide with the event.
The company has declared that it will complete 156,000 hours of volunteerism from its employees, symbolising 40 hours a week for the last 75 years. Under the scheme, employees receive paid time off to engage in volunteer work for a community issue that has been approved by the worker’s local Baxter facility.
Robert L Parkinson Jr, chairman and chief executive officer of Baxter, said: “Today, as we celebrate Baxter’s 75th anniversary, our 47,000 employees continue to be connected by one purpose – saving and sustaining the lives of patients worldwide.”
He added that since it was founded in 1931, the company had been “advancing the boundaries of healthcare” through its novel use of science and technology.
Baxter International recently announced a growth in third quarter earnings, with an increase in net income to $374 million (198.5 million pounds), up from $116 million (61.6 million pounds) in the same quarter last year. It attributed the increase in earnings to acceleration in revenue growth, improved performance, expanding operating margins and lower interest expense.
