Baxter offers support for Thailand flood victims

19th December 2011

Baxter has highlighted its efforts to provide support for victims of the recent Thai floods as part of its ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Following the extensive rainfall and flooding that occurred in the Asian nation in October and November 2011, the company responded quickly to ensure peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients in the area were still able to receive treatment.

This required close work with distributors, PD centres, hospitals and the Thai government, while fundraising efforts for patients were also carried out by local Baxter staff, even those affected by the floods themselves.

Moreover, the company was able to coordinate an emergency shipment of intravenous solutions to the nation, while also providing survival kits to local residents and assistance to Baxter employees.

Baxter said this has helped to illustrate the company's "commitment to volunteerism and product donation as well as to environmentally-conscious practices and corporate social responsibility".

Last week, the company announced plans to expand its business via the acquisition of Synovis, which specialises in innovative technology for soft tissue repair.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801243347-ADNFCR
