Baxter publishes sustainability report for 2014
Baxter has issued its 16th annual sustainability report, detailing its progress in creating social, environmental and economic value during 2014.
In the report, the company noted that Baxter products were among the first shipments to arrive in Sierra Leone and Liberia following the Ebola outbreak in 2014, and more recently in Nepal after the earthquake that struck in April 2015.
The firm has successfully reduced its net greenhouse gas emissions from operations by eight percent on an absolute basis since 2005, while promoting ethics and compliance across its organisation.
As a result, Baxter was included in Corporate Responsibility magazine's 100 Best Corporate Citizens list for its corporate social responsibility performance for the 14th year in a row.
Robert Parkinson, Baxter's chairman and chief executive officer, said: "As a healthcare industry leader, we must constantly advance and innovate to create lasting social, environmental and economic value for the communities we serve worldwide."
The company has pledged that this strrong performance will continue even after it separates into two independent organisations, Baxter and Baxalta, at the start of next month.
