Baxter reports positive progress on sustainability in 2011

Baxter has highlighted the strong progress it has made towards its long-term sustainability goals during 2011.

The firm issued its annual Sustainability Report, which revealed that Baxter has successfully reduced its absolute greenhouse gas emissions by seven percent since 2005, while slashing water usage by six percent.

Moreover, it has donated more than $80 million (51.55 million pounds) to projects aimed at improving access to healthcare, helping people in 75 countries, including Japan and Thailand.

These efforts helped Baxter to earn 11th place in Corporate Responsibility magazine's recently published 100 Best Corporate Citizens list.

It has also been recognised as one of the top 100 most sustainable global businesses by Corporate Knights for eight years running.

Robert Parkinson Jr, Baxter's chairman and chief executive officer, said: "At Baxter, sustainability is about creating lasting social, environmental and economic value by addressing the needs of our wide-ranging stakeholder base."
