Baxter wins recognition for sustainability from leading bodies

Baxter's commitment to sustainable practices and corporate social responsibility has been hailed by a number of prominent organisations.

The company has been named as the most sustainable healthcare company in the US by the publication Newsweek, as well as assuming a leadership position in the medical products industry in the latest Dow Jones Sustainability Indices.

Meanwhile, the CPA-Zicklin Index of Corporate Political Accountability and Disclosure ranked Baxter number one in the surgical, medical and dental instruments and supplies sector, thanks to its work to improve its operational transparency.

Other accolades earned by the company include recognition of its environmental initiatives in India from the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, plus the Malta Ambassador's Environmental Excellence Award for 2012.

The firm is committed to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 350 metric tonnes per year and implementing a series of innovative renewable energy strategies.

This comes in the same week that Baxter announced a new 20-year alliance with Hemobras, which aims to expand access to haemophilia A therapies across Brazil.
