Bayer discusses commitment to haemophilia community
Bayer is passionate about improving the lives of those touched by haemophilia, it has claimed.
To mark the 20th World Haemophilia Day, the company has pledged 250,000 euros (222,430 pounds) to an organisation that supports people with the condition.
The money will go to the World Federation of Haemophilia (WFH) and Bayer employees will also engage in a number of activities to promote the need to support those with the illness and other bleeding disorders.
Michael E Mathews, vice-president and therapeutic area head of Haematology, said the business is committed to helping patients with the condition, as well as their caregivers and family members.
He explained Bayer is proud of the work that the WFH does.
“We ? take great pride in knowing ? our common commitment to developing advanced therapies and innovative patient support programmes has played an important role in helping make life with haemophilia better,” he concluded.
Last month, the firm asserted it had achieved its earnings targets for 2008.
Werner Wenning, management board chairman, remarked last year had been “the most successful” 12 months for the firm from an operational standpoint.
