Bayer launches animation to raise awareness of feline microchipping

5th April 2016

Bayer has announced the launch of a new promotional animation that aims to raise awareness among cat owners about the importance of microchipping their pets.

The short animation was partly designed by the five-year-old winner of a competition Bayer held on Facebook, and tells the story of a cat called Bob who goes missing, but is reunited with his family thanks to his microchip.

Bayer is launching the animation ahead of the introduction of new legislation that will make it compulsory for all dogs in the UK to be microchipped. While similar laws for cats are not yet on the cards, the same benefits apply.

This campaign will also help to promote Bayer's own Tracer Advance microchip brand, which is the leading choice of microchip among veterinary professionals.

Hannah Watts, product manager at Bayer Animal Health, said: "We are really excited about the new animation. It is fun and engaging, but also highlights the importance of microchipping as a safe and effective way to increase the chance of a lost pet being reunited with its owner."

Currently, it is estimated that 38 percent of cats in the UK are not microchipped.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801815997-ADNFCR
