Bayer recognised for climate programme

Bayer is delighted to be recognised for its climate programme, it has stated.

The company has been honoured with the European Risk Management Award for Best Environmental Initiative.

A number of projects make up Bayer’s scheme, including efforts to reduce greenhouse gases.

To do this, the business has created zero-emission buildings for the corporate sector, as well as a climate check to identify areas where industrial productions can improve on being environmentally-friendly.

Dr Wolfgang Plischke, management board member responsible for innovation, technology and environment, said the accolade acknowledges the importance sustainability has to the business.

“We are working on various solutions to foster effective climate protection and help mitigate the consequences of climate change,” he commented.

In March, the company presented its own prize for sustainability called the Bayer Climate Award.

Werner Wenning, chairman of the board of management of Bayer, handed the honour to Professor Jochem during a ceremony in Berlin.

He said it was fitting to have the award ceremony in the German capital because it has a strong reputation for science and research.
