Bayer reports on philanthropic events

Bayer has reported on two philanthropic events to help young people living with diabetes and haemophilia.

Last week, the company aligned with West Ham United Football Club and Diabetes.co.uk to run the Around U Soccer Skills Day, which saw over 100 children with diabetes attend a football school.

It was run by youth academy director Tony Carr who was diagnosed with the disease in 2005.

This week, the pharmacy supplier sponsored an event for sufferers of bleeding disorders held at the David Beckham Football Academy in Greenwich, London.

In total, 50 young people aged between eight and 15 took part in the holiday which was organised by the Haemophilia Society.

Chris James, chief executive of the society, said: “On the three-day trip in August 2008, the young people made new friends, learned how to cope with a lifelong condition, and played football in the world-class facilities of the David Beckham Academy.”

He added this event was only made possible with sponsorship funds from Bayer HealthCare.
