BD announces Aids initiative success
BD has announced that an initiative to help improve the conditions of laboratories, as well as the skills of staff dealing with HIV and Aids, has made "significant progress" in the fight against the conditions.
In a statement, the organisation explained that the deal, which is valued at up to $18 million (10.9 million pounds), has involved an array of training programmes in different laboratories.
The scheme to strengthen the labs is part of a five-year plan designed to provide assistance to healthcare in regions that have been severely impacted by Aids and HIV.
Krista Thompson, vice-president and general manager of global health at BD, said: "Proper training helps lead to proper diagnosis, which is essential for preventing the spread of HIV/Aids, TB and other diseases.
In recent weeks, the company announced the launch of a new range of BD PureCoat cell culture surfaces. They are designed to help life science researchers in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors better analyse reproducibility.
