BD appoints new strategy and development head

BD has announced the appointment of Amit Bhalla as its new vice-president of global strategy and development, effective as of March 2014.

Mr Bhalla joins the company from Citi, where he has served as director for equity research within its life science tools/medical technology business since 2006. Prior to this, he was employed by Morgan Stanley and Johnson and Johnson.

In his new role at BD, he will partner with the senior management team in driving the overall development of the company's strategy, with the business development and corporate strategy functions reporting to him.

Vincent Forlenza, chairman, chief executive officer and president of BD, said Mr Bhalla's experience of working in the medical technology industry will be a great asset to the firm.

He said: "I'm confident that his proven expertise will help drive and develop BD's strategy of accelerating growth through innovation, geographic expansion and operating effectiveness to create value for our customers and shareholders."

This comes after the organisation reported a higher-than-expected level of growth during the first quarter of the 2014 fiscal year earlier this month.
