BD appoints Valence Health boss as new board member

BD has announced the appointment of Andrew Eckert as the newest member of its board of directors, effective as of September 26th.

Mr Eckert is the current chief executive officer of Valence Health, a healthcare IT and services company providing clinical integration, population health and value-based care solutions to healthcare sector clients.

Prior to joining Valence, he served as chief executive of TriZetto prior to its acquisition by Cognizant Technology Solutions in November 2014, while he has also led CRC Health Group, Eclipsys Corporation, SumTotal Systems and ADAC Laboratories.

The appointment of the veteran business leader brings the total number of BD board members up to 13.

Vincent Forlenza, chairman, chief executive officer and president of BD, said: "Andy is a proven leader in the growing field of healthcare information technology, and we believe he will be a valuable contributor to the BD board of directors as we move deeper into the digital health space."

The firm also declared a new quarterly dividend last week of 66 cents (50p) per common share, payable on September 30th to holders of record on September 9th.
