BD launches new assay for MRSA infections
BD has announced the European launch of a new assay for use in the rapid identification of MRSA infections.
The company has received CE Mark approval for the BD Max MRSA Assay, a fully automated new offering for use with the BD Max System that provides diagnosis of healthcare-associated infections.
Like other assays developed for BD Max, this latest product provides quick and accurate performance to offer significant laboratory efficiency and versatility benefits, while also allowing for improved patient management standards.
BD now offers more than 20 assays for the BD Max system and plans to build on the newest release with the development of additional assays for a wide range of disease categories.
Tom Polen, president for diagnostic systems at BD Diagnostics, said: "As the first healthcare-associated infection assay developed by BD for use on the BD Max System, this milestone represents further confirmation of the potential of this fully-automated system."
Earlier this month, the company reported its full-year financial results for 2010-11, during which it saw an annual sales increase of 6.2 percent.
