BD reports strong growth for 2013 fiscal year
BD has published its financial results for the fourth and final quarter of its 2013 business year, during which it performed above expectations.
For the 12 months ending on September 30th 2013, the company achieved a revenue total of $8.1 billion (5.01 billion pounds), up by 4.5 percent year on year, with a fourth-quarter total of $2.1 billion contributing to this success.
Its medical, diagnostics and bioscience businesses all improved their performance compared to 2012, with its operations outside the US growing at a particularly rapid pace.
The firm also made a key executive appointment with the hiring of Christopher Reidy as its new chief financial officer and executive vice-president of administration in July.
BD estimates that reported and currency-neutral revenues for the full 2014 fiscal year will increase by between four and five percent, while its earnings are also expected to rise.
Vincent Forlenza, chairman, chief executive officer and president of BD, said: "Our strategy of investing and innovating for growth is succeeding. We exceeded our financial and operating goals this year while continuing to deliver on our long-term commitments."
