BDTA to support DoH family oral health campaign

17th August 2010

The British Dental Trade Association (BDTA) has given its backing to a new campaign from the Department of Health (DoH), aimed at promoting better oral health among families.

As part of the nationwide Change4Life initiative, the BDTA is to help launch a campaign entitled "Kick out the sweets, bring on the healthy treats", which is aimed at persuading children and their parents to reduce their intake of sugary foodstuffs.

The scheme will involve a poster campaign, questionnaires and prizes for dental practices who become involved in the initiative.

It is hoped that this will help to promote better oral health, as well as aiding the wider Change4Life objective of curbing the rise in obesity.

Tony Reed, executive director at the BDTA, said: "The initiative allows us to communicate positive messages to patients in the dental practice waiting room, particularly children and highlight the connection between a healthy mouth and good overall health."

Earlier this year, the BDTA called on dental practices in the UK to take advantage of the professional benefits of social networking as a means of marketing and communication with clients.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800028911-ADNFCR
