Beckman Coulter Announce the first winner of the first Global Care Award

Evah Namakula is the first winner of the Cares HIV/AIDS Award. The 28 year old community youth worker has been recognised for showing ‘care, dedication and commitment in her community in the fight against HIV and AIDS.’
Beckman Coulter launched their global awards at the International AIDS Society meeting in Amsterdam earlier this month. It has two categories, to recognise an individual and an organisation who will receive a grant of $5,500 USD through the Beckman Coulter Foundation.
Evah is part of the young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) setup up by Barack Obama, where she has been a leadership mentor in local African schools and communities. She’s also a youth ambassador for Reach Out Integrity, (ROI) Africa, where she promoted health and sexual responsibility to young people in Africa. An independent judging panel found Evah’s achievements to dispel the stigma of HIV and AIDS in her local community remarkable.
