Bedfont Scientific names new general manager

Bedfont Scientific has announced the promotion of Jason Smith from commercial manager to the new post of general manager.

The appointment will see Mr Smith take responsibility for the company's management team, assisting the managing director in delivering on the overall business plan as the firm pursues its ambitious growth targets.

As a medical device company specialising in gas analysis applications, Bedfont Scientific hopes to capitalise on its critical care and exhaled breath analysis capabilities at a time when it is seeing rapid expansion in a number of medical segments.

The firm believes breath could become as clinically important a medical medium as blood in the future, while being much easier to collect. Additionally, global medical device regulations are becoming more complex, requiring a new attitude to organisation and management.

Mr Smith said: "The company has entered an important period in its history … We must respond to the new challenges that face our company in order to take full advantage of the opportunities."

Established in 1976, the business is known for successful breath and gas monitoring brands such as Smokerlyzer, ToxCO, NObreath and NOxBOX.
