Bedfont Scientific’s GastroCH4ECK shows effectiveness in NPL trial
Bedfont Scientific's new GastroCH4ECK breath analysis device has proven its effectiveness in a study conducted by the National Physical Laboratory (NPL).
Researchers from the NPL recently assessed the portable desktop monitor for its accuracy in monitoring methane levels in the breath, compared to the current gold standard system, the Agilent 6890 gas chromatograph.
It was found that Bedfont Scientific's device offered comparable performance in terms of precision, thus highlighting the benefits of the new addition to the Gastrolyzer product family.
The GastroCH4ECK, which will be launched before the end of the year, measures both hydrogen and methane levels in the breath to detect various gastrointestinal disorders.
It offers the ability to provide patient-side readings in real time, as well as analysis of patient samples using a breath-bag system.
Manufacturer Bedfont Scientific was recently named small/medium-sized business of the year at the Kent Excellence in Business Awards, as well as winning the title of best science or technology company.
