Beiersdorf declares preliminary 2008 financial data
Beiersdorf has declared its preliminary figures for 2008.
The company reported its generated sales reached 5,970 million euros (5,408 million pounds) over the year, a rise on the 5,507 million euros achieved the previous period.
It went on to note the organisation’s consumer business segment also saw a rise in purchases over 2008, to 5,125 million – up from 4,661 in 2007.
As a result, the group said its organic growth reached 8.6 per cent, noting it was “bucking the market trend”.
Chief executive officer of Beiersdorf Thomas Quass said the sales growth in the company’s “core consumer business segment” was “squarely within the corridor” it was aiming for at the beginning of 2008.
He went on to add the group’s three main brands – Nivea, La Prairie and Eucerin – saw double-digit global growth, meaning the organisation’s skin and beauty sector “clearly outperformed the market and has demonstrated an encouraging ability to withstand the current economic climate”.
Mr Quass cited tesa’s generated sales of 845 million euros – with an organic growth of 1.2 per cent – noting they were “market driven” and made the company “very well positioned for the future”.
Beiersdorf currently employs over 22,000 people around the world.
