Bio-Rad raises seven-figure sum

19th June 2007

Life science research product manufacturer Bio-Rad has raised a seven-figure sum in an annual charity bicycle ride, it has emerged.

The firm contributed to the 1.12 million dollars (568,000 pounds) raised by the Tour de Cure contest in Napa Valley, California.

A total of 80 cycling events are held each year as part of the tour, with the proceeds going towards the American Diabetes Association (ADA).

From ranking in the top ten fundraisers in 2004 and 2005, this year’s event saw Bio-Rad rated as the second-highest earning participant.

"Bio-Rad had a great turnout this year – a 30 per cent increase in riders over previous years," said company president Norman Schwartz.

"I’d like to recognise all of the riders and volunteers – each year, Tour de Cure really makes a difference."

The ADA explains that the tour is a ride – not a race – and that participants of all abilities are welcome to take part.ADNFCR-1050-ID-18184174-ADNFCR
