Biogen and Sobi to present haemophilia research data at WFH 2016

Biogen and Sobi have announced they will be presenting new research data at the forthcoming World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) 2016 World Congress in Florida.

The companies will attend the conference in Orlando from July 24th to 28th to present updated data on the long-term safety and efficacy of their range of novel extended half-life therapies, including Elocta for haemophilia A and Alprolix for haemophilia B.

This will include findings from the phase III extension studies B-YOND and ASPIRE, as well as post hoc analyses of joint health data from patients participating in the A-LONG and ASPIRE and target joint data from a subset of the B-LONG and B-YOND participants.

Additionally, preclinical pharmacokinetic data will be shared showing the benefits of intravenous and subcutaneous administration of recombinant FVIIIFc-VWF-XTEN, a fusion protein being investigated for the treatment of haemophilia A.

Rob Peters, vice-president for rare disease research at Biogen, said: "The breadth of research, for both marketed products and preclinical programmes being presented at WFH reflects our commitment to haemophilia, and our mission to improve the lives of people living with haemophilia."

The company recently announced that it will be spinning off its haemophilia business as an independent publicly-traded company, though it is expected to remain the manufacturer of Eloctate and Alprolix for the next three to five years at least.
