Biogen to present new multiple sclerosis data at ECTRIMS 2016

Biogen has announced plans to present new multiple sclerosis research data at this week's European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) congress.

The conference takes place in London from September 14th to 17th and will see Biogen showcase data from the MS Cost of Illness study, a Biogen-sponsored research project involving more than 16,000 multiple sclerosis patients across Europe.

Representing the largest ever study to capture the widespread impact of the disease, the project findings will be presented by Dr Gisela Kobelt, president of European Health Economics.

Dr Ralph Kern, senior vice-president for worldwide medical affairs at Biogen, said: "We encourage an open discussion about how the community can apply the main findings of the study to engage and educate researchers, governments and policymakers around the issues most critical to patients."

Additionally, the company will be sharing data on the development of its portfolio of multiple sclerosis therapies, including its market-leading product Tecfidera and the recently approved new treatment Zinbryta.

Comparative effectiveness studies will add to the body of evidence supporting the sustained efficacy of Tecfidera, while new Zinbryta analysis will reinforce the drug's efficacy compared to interferon beta-1a.
