Biohit reports first quarter sales increase
Biohit has published its financial report for the first quarter of 2010, during which the company saw its sales increase by 14 per cent year-on-year.
The science company’s sales for January to March 2010 came to a total of 9.4 million euros (8.1 million pounds), 95 per cent of which came from its liquid handling business unit.
It stated that this unit saw favourable sales trends across all of its product groups, with pipette sales isolated as the area which saw the most pronounced increase in sales.
Other areas to see growth included Biohit’s diagnostics unit, which experienced a “reasonable” increase in sales driven by improved demand for its test kits.
Biohit stated that these results have exceeded its initial expectations, adding: “The company expects that its profitability will improve during the present year and that its profit before taxes will be slightly better than in the previous year.”
This comes after the company predicted last month that it will continue to experience business growth in the medium-term future due to an expected end to the difficult economic conditions of the past year.
