BioMerieux agrees deal to purchase Applied Maths
BioMerieux has announced the acquisition of Applied Maths, a developer of software bioscience software solutions.
The takeover will allow BioMerieux to expand its bioinformatics capabilities with cutting-edge expertise and solutions for the smart use of complex biological data, with Applied Maths offering specific expertise in databasing, analysis and interpretation of complex biological data.
Its BioNumerics universal software is used for microbiology applications, including in bacteriology, virology and mycology, and it has become the preferred tool used by many national and international projects, networks and critical-mission applications.
The acquired firm's 25 employees serve more than 2,000 customers worldwide including leading public health organisations, research and academic institutions, industrial companies and hospitals in Europe and the US.
Jean-Luc Belingard, chairman of BioMerieux, said: "The acquisition of Applied Maths … will help answer the most recent expectations of our customers, facing a growing digitalisation of the laboratory environment and requiring more insights to make more informed clinical decisions for better patient care."
