bioMerieux has confirmed the appointment of Steve Harbin as its new corporate vice-president for quality management systems, internal control strategies and health, safety and environment.
Mr Harbin, who had previously held positions with Eli Lilly’s industrial divisions in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, will answer directly to group chief executive officer Stephane Bancel.
As corporate vice-president, he will now be responsible for overseeing bioMerieux’s quality control policies. In addition, Mr Harbin will head up a new drive to improve the firm’s environmental, risk management and internal control procedures.
He will also serve as a member of the group’s management committee, as well as its sustainable development committee.
Commenting on Mr Harbin’s appointment, Mr Bancel said: "Steve’s exceptional leadership qualities and international experience in the pharmaceutical industry will help drive bioMerieux’s initiatives in quality and in the environment to new levels of performance. We are very pleased to have him on board."
