BioMerieux appoints new chief executive officer

BioMerieux has announced the appointment of Alexandre Merieux as its new chief executive officer and management committee head.

Mr Merieux succeeds Jean-Luc Belingard, who will remain in place as the company's chairman. His appointment coincides with the implementation of a new organisational structure for the business.

Three regional organisations with expanded responsibilities have been created for the Americas, the Asia Pacific region and Europe, the Middle East and Africa, while its customer segments will now be divided into a clinical and an industry unit.

The business development, molecular biology and quality departments will all report to Mr Belingard, with all other departments – including investor relations – reporting to Mr Merieux.

Mr Belingard said: "In the past three years, we have made major acquisitions and business agreements that hold exciting prospects for our company. We will work with Alexandre to bring them to fruition."

This comes after the firm appointed Claire Giraut as its corporate vice-president and chief financial officer earlier this year.
