BioMerieux earns innovation award for FilmArray Ebola test

13th February 2015

BioMerieux has announced that its FilmArray Ebola test has earned Frost and Sullivan's 2014 global new product innovation award.

Developed by the company's subsidiary BioFire Defense, the test runs on the BioFire FilmArray molecular diagnostic system and can deliver results in one hour, thus significantly reducing testing times and allowing health professionals to make treatment decisions faster.

The award is handed out every year to companies that display strong overall performance in the development and market of an innovative new product that complies with regulatory requirements and fulfils an unmet need.

BioMerieux and BioFire are currently working together to make the FilmArray Ebola test available in all countries that might need it.

Kirk Ririe, chief executive officer of BioFire Defense, said: "Diagnostics are a powerful force in improving patient care and I am honoured to see the efforts of our team recognised by Frost and Sullivan."

Last year, BioMerieux experienced year-on-year revenue growth of seven percent, with the merger with BioFire one of the key highlights.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801775289-ADNFCR
