BioMerieux reports positive fiscal growth in 2013
BioMerieux has announced its financial results for the 2013 full-year period, during which it generated sales of 1.59 billion euros (1.32 billion pounds).
This represented a 4.6 percent year-on-year increase at constant exchange rates, thanks to its strong growth in North America and emerging markets, as well as a gradual easing of economic constraints in western Europe.
Other key highlights of the year include the EU launch of Vidas 3 and the US approval of Vitek MS, as well as the acquisition of BioFire Diagnostics, creator of the revolutionary FilmArray molecular biology system.
Jean-Luc Belingard, chairman and chief executive officer of BioMerieux, said: "2014, which will be a year of investment and consolidation, will also see further robust organic growth in sales, which we are targeting at three to five percent."
He noted that this is before taking into account adverse currency effects and the consolidation of an estimated 60 million euros in additional sales from BioFire, the takeover of which was finalised last week.
