BioMerieux reports strong second quarter results for 2016
BioMerieux has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2016, during which it experienced strong year-on-year growth.
Its sales reached 1.001 billion euros (833.93 million pounds), up by 10.9 percent at constant exchange rates and factoring in the scope of the company's consolidation in the first half of 2016. On a reported basis, the firm's sales were up by 7.2 percent.
Growth continued to be led by the Americas in the second quarter, supported by a return to faster gains in the Asia-Pacific region, with all of its clinical and industrial lines contributing to consolidated growth.
Its FilmArray business also performed strongly, with a 62 percent year-over-year increase in sales for the product line during the quarter.
Alexandre Merieux, chief executive officer of BioMerieux, said "As was the case in 2015, second-half growth is expected to come in slightly below the first-half performance and set us on a favourable course to fulfilling our ambitions."
This comes after the company launched its new CE-marked database and reagent kits for the identification of mycobacteria, Nocardia and moulds for the Vitek MS system earlier this month.
