Biotronik Home Monitoring approved in Europe

29th September 2008

Biotronik has announced its Home Monitoring system has been approved for use in Europe, becoming the first wireless remote device of its type with an intelligent traffic light system in the industry.

The solution is used to rapidly and simply identify patients with the most clinically-relevant events in order to improve patient care and streamline clinic workflow.

It incorporates a traffic-light, severity-based display of patient status to facilitate the identification of the most vital information with a single click and allow doctors to review the clinical status of patients at a glance.

Features included in the Home Monitoring system are the online CardioReport which is continuously updated and consolidated and the intracardiac electrogram IEGM-Online HD, among others.

Marlou Janssen, vice-president of global marketing and sales of cardiac rhythm management at the company, said: “With this important European approval of our new Biotronik Home Monitoring system, our leadership in telecardiology for patient with cardiac devices has been reconfirmed.”

She added the company would launch this new platform at the start of next month, with limited availability to specific clinics around the world, with the launch procedure being completed early next year.

Earlier this month, Biotronik published a business update that claimed the company was forging ahead towards an industry leadership position in medical technology, with its major focus areas of atrial fibrillation and heart failure.
