Biotronik Home Monitoring study shows cardiac management benefits
Biotronik has published a new study showing the benefits provided by its Home Monitoring system in the management of patients with cardiac problems.
Analysis of pooled data from the Impact study has shown that Home Monitoring can help clinicians to easily detect patients affected by atrial high-rate events.
These occurrences have been significantly associated with an increased risk of thromboembolic events such as stroke, making it vital that patients are constantly monitored and treated as soon as possible.
According to Biotronik, this shows the benefits of using Home Monitoring to provide routine assessments of patients, as the remote management system is the only one of its kind to continuously monitor clinical and device status.
Dr Werner Braun, managing director of Biotronik, said: "The results of Impact have the potential to significantly change clinical practice and improve patient outcomes by effectively guiding clinical decision-making regarding anticoagulation therapy."
Last week, the company expanded its product range with the European launch of Lumax 740, the first ever MRI-compatible implantable cardiac defibrillator.
