Biotronik to launch new Pulsar stent

15th November 2010

Biotronik has announced the international full market launch of the Pulsar-18 stent, an innovative new medical device designed to treat peripheral vascular disease.

The new product has been described as a flagship offering for Biotronik and is the world's first 4F compatible self-expanding stent, capable of reaching lengths of up to 200 mm.

It is the next-generation version of the company's existing Astron Pulsar device and features an easy-to-use delivery system with a friction-reducing handle, superior radial force and better flexibility.

The new stent is currently being studied in a number of clinical trials designed to gauge its efficacy compared to other similar products.

Alain Aimonetti, vice-president of sales and marketing for Biotronik, said: "The low profile, long lengths and innovative handle design demonstrate that Biotronik deeply understands the complex nature of treating peripheral arterial disease."

Last week, Biotronik announced the commencement of a new clinical trial evaluating its drug-eluting balloon catheter Passeo-18 Lux.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800235775-ADNFCR
