Blood cancer campaign launched by Johnson and Johnson

6th September 2019

Johnson and Johnson have joined forces with the UK’s leading blood cancer support groups to announce ‘Make blood Cancer Visible’ Campaign, in the hope to improve earlier diagnosis and increase awareness of the signs and symptoms.
A short documentary and 5 mini films outlining the symptoms have been released to go alongside the campaign. Primary Care lead at East Midlands Cancer Alliance, Dr Pawan Randev said “These useful educational resources can play a huge part in recognising the symptoms and help patients gain an early diagnosis allowing us to improve our services and support positive patient outcomes.”
With blood cancer being the third biggest killer in the UK, the awareness of its symptoms is still very low, “ Symptoms for blood cancer can be vague and often confused with other conditions, which makes it very difficult to spot the signs,” said Gemma Peters CEO of Bloodwise. “Outcomes are normally more positive when patients are diagnosed earlier, so the campaign is really helpful to increase awareness of what those symptoms are.”
