BMI Healthcare to roll out nursing initiative across national network

BMI Healthcare has announced that it will be rolling out a new nursing initiative nationwide following its successful introduction in Enfield.

Set up and pioneered by BMI's King's Oak and Cavell Hospital, the I Love the 6Cs campaign aims to set out a model for nursing to meet future health needs by enshrining six core values: care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment.

As part of this, new staff and patient forums have been introduced, senior managers have got involved in ward visits and interacted with patients on a daily basis, and a friends and family test has been introduced to gauge whether patients would recommend their experience to loved ones.

The I Love the 6Cs initiative has seen the percentage of people who would definitely recommend the hospitals to their friends and family rise from 86 percent to 96.5 percent.

Dr Lorraine Kelly, director of nursing at BMI The King's Oak and Cavell Hospitals, said: "Our strategy has been for continuous improvement and our initiative is part of an ongoing development process to embed its core values into each and every one of our team members."

This comes after the company announced last month that Felicia Kwaku, director of nursing at BMI's Clementine Churchill Hospital, has earned recognition through the Health Service Journal's inaugural Black and Minority Ethnic Pioneers programme.
