BMS procurement officer ‘to play key role’ in maximising strategic value

Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) has announced the appointment of a new senior vice-president and chief procurement officer who will play a major role in the company’s transition to a next-generation biopharma model.

Quentin Roach has been chosen for the position and will assume responsibilities for global leadership for supplier relationship management, procurement of all materials and services and company-wide sourcing strategies.

Before joining BMS, Mr Roach served as vice-president of global customer strategy and process management at Bausch & Lomb where he was also leader of the firm’s global customer strategy steering committee.

Carlo de Notaristefani, president of technical operations, said: “As we transition BMS to a next-generation BioPharma model, Quentin will play a key role in continuing to maximise the strategic value that procurement can deliver to the company.”

He added that Mr Roach brings extensive experience in procurement and supply chain which will be useful in his new role.

Mr Roach said he was looking forward to working with staff in the global procurement segment of the firm in order to develop an efficient and focused group to best serve the future needs of BMS.

In June 2008, BMS announced the completion of its purchase of Kosan Biosciences for $190 million (95.8 million pounds).
