Boehringer Ingelheim and Molecular Partners agree manufacturing alliance

12th November 2012

Boehringer Ingelheim's biopharmaceutical contract manufacturing business has entered a collaboration with Molecular Partners.

Under the terms of the deal, Boehringer Ingelheim will generate of E coli production strains and manufacture tox and clinical-stage material for multiple DARPin products, supplying Molecular Partners' proprietary DARPin pipeline.

This will allow Molecular Partners to bring its innovative therapies to market as quickly as possible, thus benefiting patients in the long run.

A successful case study has already been carried out, showing that monospecific and multispecific DARPins could both be expressed intracellularely in E. coli as soluble proteins at high titres and purified to a high standard.

Lothar Halmer, vice-president for microbial operations and site head of Boehringer Ingelheim Austria, said: "We are delighted to be able to work with Molecular Partners to support their clinical development strategies for their DARPins pipeline."

This comes after Boehringer Ingelheim announced plans to double production capabilities for its Respimat soft inhaler last month, in response to growing global demand.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801485951-ADNFCR
