Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health 2022 Revenue Report

20th April 2023

The North American economic downturn, fierce rivalry, and diminishing sales of swine immunisations in China have all had an impact on Boehringer Ingelheim’s Animal Health division.

At €4.6 billion in 2022, net sales were on a par with results from the previous year.

The company achieved something that had never been seen before in the Animal Health industry. Sales for their canine flea and tick prevention drug, NEXGARD®, increased by 0.8%, totaling over €1 billion in 2022.

Last year, the amount of R&D expenditure was €464 million, or 10% of BI Animal Health’s product sales, significantly surpassing the industry standard.

This year, the company plans to introduce 20 medications to their portfolio, including cutting-edge oral diabetic treatments for cats and revolutionary flea and tick treatments for dogs.

BI projects modest sales increase in 2023, together with a minor improvement in operating income.
