Boehringer Ingelheim highlights support for World Diabetes Day

20th November 2013

Boehringer Ingelheim has underlined its commitment to improving health standards worldwide by undertaking various projects to mark World Diabetes Day 2013.

Taking place on November 14th, the event saw Boehringer Ingelheim helping the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) to raise awareness of the disease by encouraging its staff to wear blue and illuminating its corporate offices with blue lighting.

Meanwhile, numerous diabetes-oriented events were held by the company, including employee education programmes, nutritional menu choices and blood glucose screenings, plus a special charity run.

The firm was able to raise 25,000 euros (20,900 pounds) for the IDF's Life for a Child Programme, which supports more than 12,000 youngsters afflicted by diabetes in 43 countries.

Glyn Parkin, corporate vice-president for metabolic product marketing at Boehringer Ingelheim, said: "With the dramatic rise of diabetes cases, especially in emerging markets, we are proud to continue supporting the pivotal work the Life for a Child Programme is accomplishing."

The company also teamed up with the European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes earlier this year to help provide funding for innovative research projects in this field.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801662754-ADNFCR
