Boehringer Ingelheim launches MycoFLEX Headspace bottle
Boehringer Ingelheim has announced the European approval of the MycoFLEX Headspace bottle, an animal health product that facilitates the simultaneous application of pig vaccines.
The device provides a simple and practical way to mix Ingelvac CircoFLEX and Ingelvac MycoFLEX, allowing the two vaccines to be mixed directly in the Ingelvac MycoFLEX bottle.
It eliminates the need for an additional mixing vessel and has been released in response to demand from consumers.
According to European market research, 83 percent of veterinarians who vaccinate their pigs against porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (M. hyo) mix the two treatments, as this reduces stress for the animals and the risk of infection, as well as providing cost-saving benefits.
The manufacturer said: "The FLEXcombo concept of the mixable standalone vaccines is the first and only solution to protect pigs both against PCV2 and M. hyo with a single shot."
Next month, Boehringer Ingelheim will appoint Dr Joachim Hasenmaier as its new board member in charge of animal and consumer healthcare.
