Bond Digital Health receives funding boost so support business growth
Its smiles all round for software and technology based company Bond Digital Health, who have received a private equity investment of £200,000 and were awarded a grant from Innovate UK as winners of their precision medicine competition.
The investment is part of planned funding for 2018 and will be used to support business growth, whereas the grant will be used for technology development described as a digital stethoscope to aid people with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
The device is attached to the patient in the same way as you would a patch. Lung and heart noises are recorded and sent to a smart phone which records the data on a central analytical system and can be accessed by clinicians at any time via a secure cloud database.
Founder of Bond Health and COPD sufferer Ian Bond thinks that this device will provide patient empowerment. “With a condition like COPD, there is often a lack of information between appointments where doctors have to rely on anecdotal evidence or inaccurate paper diaries. By using the application, we can empower COPD patients to self-manage their condition, reduce consultation and admissions and improve their overall wellbeing.”
