Boots UK signs up for the DHSC’s asymptomatic COVID-19 testing pilot
Boots UK and several other companies have taken part in a pilot, launched by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), which intends to assess the effectiveness of testing for people without COVID-19 symptoms who work in jobs with hard-to-distance jobs, including pharmacies.
The swab testing will be managed by local authorities, the central government and several employees from Mitie, Addison Lee, BT and Boots UK. Nevertheless, it will also target cleaners, taxi drivers and shop workers.
Pharmacy Director, Boots UK, Richard Bradley, stated: “Once again, our amazing colleagues are demonstrating their unfailing commitment to the NHS and are volunteering to be tested when asymptomatic to help the DHSC learn more about COVID-19, and to further protect themselves, their families, colleagues and customers.”
Executive Chair of NHS Test and Trace, Dido Harding, stated: “We are committed to continually improving NHS Test and Trace to reach more people at risk of passing the virus on as quickly as possible. I continue to applaud all those who have played their part, got a test after experiencing symptoms and responded to the service. I urge anyone contacted by NHS Test and Trace to follow the advice they receive to protect their families and communities.”
