Boston Scientific achieves improved performance in Q1 2015

29th April 2015

Boston Scientific has announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2015, during which it achieved a sales total of $1.77 billion (1.15 billion pounds).

This represented a year-on-year increase of six percent in operational revenue growth terms and fell within the company's previously-stated guidance range, while its adjusted earnings per share came to $0.21, also up by six percent.

During the quarter, the firm received US approval for its Watchman left atrial appendage closure device and the Emblem subcutaneous implantable defibrillator system. It was also able to achieve growth across its cardiovascular, rhythm management and MedSurg businesses.

Other key highlights included the acquisitions of the American Medical Systems urology portfolio and the agreement of new collaborative alliances with CR Bard and Frankenman Medical Equipment.

Mike Mahoney, president and chief executive officer at Boston Scientific, said: "We achieved strong results in the first quarter, and we continue to build global momentum. In particular, our interventional cardiology business, including structural heart, delivered excellent results."ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801785644-ADNFCR
