Boston Scientific announces DDW presentations

Boston Scientific has announced that it is to publish results of a number of clinical trials of its endoscopic technologies at the Digestive Disease Week (DDW) conference currently underway in Washington DC.

Among other exhibits, the company will present the result of studies involving its Radial Jaw 4 biopsy forceps for endoscopic surveillance in Barrett’s Oesophagus patients and its WallFlex enteral stent for patients with malignant gastric outlet obstruction.

The results of these studies will be accompanied by presentations relating to the SpyGlass direct visualisation system for single-operator duodenoscope assisted cholangiopancreatoscopy, which will see its formal launch at the conference.

Michael P Phalen, president of endoscopy at Boston Scientific, said: “We are pleased to formally introduce the SpyGlass direct visualisation system, which provides unprecedented, direct visualization of the bile ducts and requires only a single physician operator.”

He added that the firm was also using DDW to present study results for a range of products, exhibiting the company’s commitment to continually updating its technology in order to improve patient quality of life.

Earlier this month, Boston Scientific announced the appointment of Sam Leno as chief financial officer and executive vice-president of finance and information systems at the company, with Mr Leno succeeding Larry Best in this role.
