Boston Scientific completes acquisition of EndoChoice
Boston Scientific has announced the completion of its previously-announced takeover of EndoChoice, a deal valued at around $210 million (169.36 million pounds).
Based in Georgia, EndoChoice specialises in the development and commercialisation of infection control products, pathology services and single-use devices for specialists treating various gastrointestinal conditions.
With the completion of the acquisition, EndoChoice has become part of Boston Scientific's endoscopy business, allowing the firm to offer a wider range of gastrointestinal services and devices for physicians in group practice settings, as well as hospitals and ambulatory surgery centres.
EndoChoice generated approximately $75 million in total sales during the 12-month period ended September 30th 2016.
Following the closure of the deal, Boston Scientific will continue to evaluate strategic options for the Full Spectrum Endoscopy colonoscope, with an update on its plans for the platform expected before the end of the year.
Art Butcher, senior vice-president and president for endoscopy at Boston Scientific, said: "We are excited to provide physicians more comprehensive solutions to help assess, diagnose and treat patients with gastrointestinal conditions."
