Boston Scientific discusses Q1 2009 performance
Boston Scientific has continued to deliver solid results across its business this year, it has claimed.
President and chief executive of the company Jim Tobin asserted the firm’s neuromodulation, endoscopy, urology and gynecology areas performed consistently in the first quarter of 2009.
He added the sales of its cardiac rhythm management products and drug-eluting stents were particularly impressive as both had achieved double-digit growth.
In line with forecasts, net sales for the period were $2.01 billion (1.37 billion pounds) ? a decrease from the first quarter of 2008, when the company achieved a figure of $2.046 billion.
During the first three months of the year, the company settled litigation, pre-paid debt and maintained strong cash flow to reduce any risk, Mr Tobin added.
“We’re off to a good start on the year,” he remarked.
Last month, Boston Scientific received its three-year results from a number of clinical trials testing the safety and efficacy of the Promus stent compared to its Taxus Express2 product.
The former coronary stent elutes everolimus, where as the latter releases paclitaxel.
