Boston Scientific exceeds expectations in Q2 2016
Boston Scientific has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2016, during which it generated a sales total of $2.13 billion (1.6 billion pounds).
This represents a year-on-year increase of 15 percent on a reported basis, or 16 percent in operational terms. It also exceeded the company's guidance range for the quarter for a $2.01 billion to $2.06 billion sales total.
Revenue growth was achieved across all of its business divisions and key regions, with a number of research and regulatory milestones also met during the quarter.
For example, the firm received US approval for its Precision Montage MRI Spinal Cord Stimulator System and IntellaNav XP navigation-enabled ablation catheters, while its GreenLight XPS Laser Therapy System has endorsed for use in the UK.
Additionally, the company was able to agree a deal to purchase radiofrequency ablation systems manufacturer Cosman Medical, thereby expanding its neuromodulation portfolio further.
Mike Mahoney, chairman and chief executive officer of Boston Scientific, said: "Our deep portfolio, commitment to innovation and high-performance culture are helping us meet the needs of our customers and patients while sustaining growth and momentum."
